UBC
Environmental Law Group

2026-2027 Executive

Isabella Moyer, Co-Chair
Isabella grew up in Victoria and moved to Vancouver in 2019 to study Anthropology at UBC. She worked as a field archaeologist before going in-office at an environmental consulting firm, conducting archaeological risk assessments for development projects. Given this background, Isabella is interested in exploring the changes that must be made for BC’s major industries (and the government regulation thereof) to meaningfully address the climate crisis; acknowledging that while “business as usual” is not sustainable, neither is no business at all. In her free time Isabella loves gardening, camping, and any other means of spending time outdoors.

Osha Dombrowski , Co-Chair
Osha was raised on the small forested island of Cortes in BC. He has cared deeply about protecting nature since his upbringing, and hopes to continue to pursue that goal in his career. He has an undergraduate degree in Political Science at UBC, with a minor in Law and Society. He has extensively studied electoral systems, and is a member of the board of directors of Fair Vote Canada, a national organization dedicated to obtaining proportional representation. Osha cares about helping people and the world, and he likes everyone he meets.

Kate Gay, Outreach Director
Kate is a 2L at Allard with a BCom from the University of Toronto, majoring in environmental studies. Prior to Allard she worked in Ontario energy and utilities industry, focusing on nuclear energy. At Allard, Kate is a Research Assistant studying Indigenous fishing rights on the Fraser River. She is particularly interested in bringing together legal, business, and environmental perspectives to advance meaningful and pragmatic approaches to Canada’s net zero transition. She loves “touch grass” walks in between classes.

Talia Holy, External Relations Director
Talia is a 2L student at Allard originally from Vancouver. Prior to law school, she completed a BA at the University of Toronto and a MA at UBC in Political Science, and worked for three years at a non-profit organization focused on alternative dispute resolution. After starting law school, Talia worked for Dr. Jocelyn Stacey, conducting research on climate emergencies and UBC’s legal obligations during emergencies. She is excited to pursue a career in litigation and help people navigate conflict, especially in environmental and Aboriginal law. Outside law school, you can find Talia hanging out with Moose, her very large, grumpy, ex-street cat.

Max Wilkinson, Advocacy co-Director
Max (they/them) is a 3L student at UBC. They have an undergraduate degree from UofT in International Relations and Peace, Conflict, and Justice Studies. Max has a background in grassroots organizing for climate justice, trans & queer rights, and more. They came to law school to learn how legal tools can be used to support social movements and frontline activists. Max spent their 2L summer at Ecojustice, a public interest environmental law charity, and will be returning to article there after graduating! At Allard, Max is also a Co-President of OutLaws – our 2SLGBTQIA+ students’ affinity group.

Parul Kanwar, Advocacy co-Director
Parul grew up in Chandigarh, India, before moving to Edmonton, Alberta, where she worked at the Legislature on issues relating to Environment and Protected Areas, and Energy and Minerals, through projects like the Eastern Slopes Protection Act and consultations with First Nations and Métis communities on land and resource issues. She is passionate about climate policy and travel, and has found ways to combine the two, attending both COP29 & COP30 as part of the Canadian delegation. Her interests sit at the intersection of environmental law, natural resources, and climate justice. She is now a 2L, where she can most often be found studying with her cat, Itachi, asleep on her keyboard.

Amy Leung, Treasurer
Amy is a 2L and holds an undergraduate degree in Geography from UBC, where she developed an interest in the intersection of law and sustainability. Prior to law school, she had the opportunity to work with a salmon habitat restoration program, Environment Canada, the Impact Assessment Agency, and UBC’s Sustainability Hub. These experiences deepened her interest in environmental issues. Amy is excited to continue exploring environmental legal topics and expanding her knowledge at Allard!

Helena Vanous, Negotiations Competition Organizer
Helena is a 3L student from Vancouver with an interest in international law and the environment. After a degree in International Relations from UBC, she went on to an MA in Media and Area Studies at Charles University in Czechia, focusing her MA thesis on EU and national fishing and marine regulation in Ireland. From this research, along with the knowledge she gained growing up in Vancouver, she is interested in localized and decolonial efforts in environmental protection and hopes to use her education to support these efforts.

Rachel Negron, Careers Director
Rachel is a 2L at Allard and graduated from the University of Washington with a bachelor’s in law and literature. She grew up across the United States and has been passionate about environmental protections since childhood. She moved to British Columbia to practice as an environmental lawyer close to family. Her past research includes climate adaptation plans across several countries, and she helped UW to draft its 2030 Sustainability Plan. Rachel hopes to merge her passions for sustainability and law to find a practice in ESG, aiding corporations in reducing environmental impacts while pursuing sustainable growth.

Natasha Cross, Communications Director
Natasha (she/her) is a 3L at Allard with a BA from the University of Toronto in English Literature. Natasha’s passions for social and environmental justice are what brought her to law school. Throughout her 2L year, Natasha was a student volunteer with Justice for Girls. She spent this most recent summer working with West Coast Environmental Law. Outside of school, Natasha loves long-distance running, hiking, and reading fiction novels.

Michelle Lin, Social Coordinator

She has co-authored a chapter in Key Developments in Environmental Law 2025 and in the PKI Global Justice Journal. Michelle is interested in all aspects of environmental law, particularly environmental due diligence and regulatory compliance for industries.

Nicola Duyker, Social Coordinator
Nicola is a 2L at Allard and one of this year's Social Coordinators. Nicola has a BSc in Natural Resources Conservation from UBC's Faculty of Forestry where she focused on the intersections of energy, agriculture, and the environment, and the importance of including Indigenous perspectives. She spent her 1L summer in Toronto at the Canadian Environmental Law Association, a legal clinic focused on environmental justice for low-income, disadvantaged, or Indigenous communities. Outside of work or class, Nicola can often be found showing people her really cool bug photos or trying to figure out what bird that was.
